You must be warned, however, before pursuing this particular skill to its end.  The price of herbs in the auction house has become extremely overpriced.  Perhaps this is due to the high demand for them now that they have a new use, and a few herbalists decided to take advantage of the shortage.  With several fields directly depending on herbs, this problem will not balance itself out for some time – this makes it a good investment to level an herbalist.
The best ways to spin a profit out of the glyphs you make are the auction house and the trade channel.  In the trade channel, you typically have the ability to sell more than you normally could in the auction house.  If you happen to catch a person that is in dire need of your services, you also gain the unique opportunity to charge them more than its normal worth.  This works the other way around when buying herbs as well.
