By WOW ZonAt the begin of the game you have one hundred health points. There are different opinions on whether you should increase you health with your skill points. Ultimately it is up to you but here is some information that will help guide your decision.
What sources are there for Mafia Wars health points?
Every five minutes of the game you are given one health point up to the maximum of your current skill level. The exception is for the Fearless character type who gets one point regenerated every three minutes. Your health points are also refilled when you level in the game.
If you have enough points for it, you can replenish your Mafia Wars health through the Godfather. Refilling your health this way will cost you ten points. Replenishing your health is not a very good use of your reward points. A better idea would be to use those points to boost you skill points which can then be used to increase your health on a permanent basis. You will receive four skill points for fourteen reward points.
You can also restore your health by going to the hospital. If you are prepared to pay the price for the hospitals time you can go there every forty five seconds. The price is based on how sick you are so make sure you are keeping a supply of cash around for this purpose. Fortunately you can use this feature without having to take your cash out of the bank.
What do you have health for?
You must have health for fighting, for both attacking and defending.. When you attack other players or a mob boss you must have enough health to defeat the enemy, but how much fighting you can do is also limited by other things. Your stamina attribute will effect how often you can attack another player.
Is health a good place to put skill points?
Two different views exist on whether to use your skill points to boost your health. The two sides, for and against, are both certain that their way is correct.
You can improve your fighting to some degree by putting points into health. The more health you have the more times you can be attacked but you will be able to counterattack more times (there are other factors involved here) during the fight.
Those on the other side of the argument see it like this: Why waste your skill points on health when you can top up your health every forty five seconds at the hospital? Also, if you let your health fall below twenty you cannot be attacked any more. Finally, a high health will allow other players to attack you more regularly, possibly taking more cash.
Using your points on any attribute other than health seems to be the most suggested and used system. The only drawback to this strategy would be if they opted to limit hospital use in the game or remove it entirely.
